1945-2004 - Jamaica's best-known gay rights activist was found dead at his home on the 9th June 2004 with multiple stab wounds. The murder was believed to be a hate crime, but the Jamaican police said they were treating it as a robbery. To this day, no one has been charged with his murder.
Brian, who was 59 at the time was discovered by a neighbour, lying in a pool of blood.
He was the founding member of JFLAG, the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All sexuals and Gays. He was one of the first Jamaicans publicly to oppose discrimination against gays and HIV/Aids victims.
With the support of the mayor Ken Livingstone and the gay community, the 2004 London Gay Pride Rally was dedicated to his memory.
This page serves as a lasting tribute to his dedication in fighting for a better life for gays and lesbians in Jamaica.
