Policy StatementOutburst UK aims to ensure that as an employer, service provider and through its work in partnership with all those in the BLGBT and the wider community, no individual or group experiences discrimination, harassment or victimisation on any grounds.
We recognise the need to continuously develop and review employment and volunteering policies and procedures to ensure recruitment, training, development and promotion decisions are made on the basis of competency, performance and ability. In the area of service provision our aim is to provide equal access to Outburst UKs’ services for all people in our community.
All those involved in the work of this voluntary organisation are expected to demonstrate a commitment to equality of opportunity by implementing the principles of Outburst UKs’ equal opportunities policy and procedures. The organisation will encourage this commitment by actively creating awareness.
Selection criteria and procedures are reviewed to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and treated on the basis of their relevant merits and abilities.
In working towards equality of opportunity, Outburst UK wishes to establish a culture that enables employees and volunteers to successfully balance work requirements with domestic and personal responsibilities.
The organisation therefore provides favourable entitlements for occupational maternity pay, parental and adoptive leave and a variety of paid and unpaid special leave (including paid time off to care for dependants and to attend medical appointments and compassionate leave). These entitlements, along with Outburst UKs’ flexible working arrangements help staff and volunteers to achieve an effective work/life balance as well as allowing the organisation to retain a skilled and valued work force.
All employees will be given equality of opportunity and, where appropriate and possible, special training to enable them to progress both within and outside the organisation.
Outburst UK is committed to a continuing programme of action to make this policy effective and bring it to the attention of all employees and volunteers.
This policy will be reviewed every 2 years.
